Rafting along the Dunajec Ravine

The Pieniny Mountains at the Polish-Slovakian border, are not spectacularly big; the main ridge is less than 30 km long and the range is 3-4km wide. However, in such a small space there is an exeptional variety of geological and vegetable forms.
This is why the Pieniny are believed to be one of the most picturesque corners of Poland and one of principal natural rarities of Europe. Also the unique culture of the Pieniny is one of their great attractions. A trip on a wooden raft down the Dunajec gorge is an unforgettable experience. Rafting on the Dunajec has almost two hundred years of history behind it. As early as in 1980 it was described in the tourist literature. Years ago, it began in Czorsztyn in front of the Niedzica Palace. That place remains at the bottom of the Czorsztyn lake today and in the memory of elderly people and in splendid photographs by Edward Hartwig.
On a traditionally built, wooden raft tourists are taken down the Dunajec, which flows through the deep, winding canyon. The river Dunajec, changes its direction six times, winding its way past rocks that are up to five hundred meters above the water table. The trip takes two or three hours, depending on the water level and the choice of the destination marina. Very fast changing views will take your breath away, meantime raftsmen entertain toursists with mountaineers tales and raftsmen's riddles- how we will pass the next glade, on the left or right? There is no shame in getting this wrong as many thousands of tourists before have made the same mistakes.
This is a beautiful way to see the Pieniny National Park and one of the most visited attractions by our guests. It combines the joy of the breathtaking nature and traditional culture of the mountaineers in a unique and spectacular way.
