Szczawnica

Szczawnica is located in one of the most picturesque parts of Poland, on the border of the Pieniny and the Beskid Sadecki Mountains at an altitude of 430 - 500 metres above sea level. The unique microclimate and mineral water resources made Szczawnica a well-know spa as early as 19th century and is looked upon as the queen of Polish spa's by some people.

From Szczawnica you can find numerous tourist routes, hiking and bicycle trails that will lead you deep into the heart of the beautiful Pieniny National Park.

One of the most popular trails here goes along the Dunajec River taking you across the border to Slovakia where you can visit the Red Monastery. This trail will take about 2 hours to walk.

Szczawnica lays almost on the border to Slovakia and has become a great little tourist town mainly because of the rafting on the Dunajec, as this is one of the end stations and where most people get off. You will find many restaurants and cafeterias here. It is also a great starting point for walkers and bike riders. You can hire bikes here just by the end point of the rafting.
